James Fagen has been practicing law since 1973.

Mr. Fagen was an Assistant Prosecutor with the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. During his tenure in that office he rose to the level of Director of the Trial Division. While a member of the Prosecutor's Office he tried numerous homicide cases, including several death penalty cases, sexual assaults, robberies, drug cases and virtually every type of criminal violation. Some of the trials included the prosecution of Richard Biegenwald, a serial murderer, and Pedro Radziwill. Mr. Fagen was one of the first attorneys to argue the constitutionality of the New Jersey death penalty before the Supreme Court of New Jersey.

Mr. Fagen has been in private practice for over twenty years. His current law practice is limited exclusively to criminal defense and all municipal court violations including drunk driving and motor vehicle offenses. Mr. Fagen has defended numerous individuals for crimes including murder, assault, drugs, arson, and all types of white collar crimes. He has handled several high profile cases including the successful defense of Wall Township Chief of Police Bernard Sullivan who was charged with DWI, and Jeremiah Healey, Mayor of Jersey City.
